Mr. Michael Branigan is a +20-year veteran of
hospitality transactions, finance and portfolio analysis. He is a
specialist in complicated hotel and resort land, secured mortgage note
sales, and hotel and resort portfolio transactions. He is a graduate of
the Cornell University Hotel School and holds an MBA from University of
St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN.

Prior to formation of CHS, Mr. Branigan
co-managed the hotel acquisition group for Sunstone Hotel Investors, LP,
formerly a publicly traded real estate investment trust, which in 1997-98
acquired 39 hotels in the Western US, representing over $500 million.
Most were renovated and rebranded as full service (Marriott, Hilton,
Sheraton, Doubletree, Holiday Inns and Courtyard by Marriott) and
upper-end extended stay (Residence Inn and Hawthorn Suites) properties.
Additionally, he directed the underwriting of over 400 hotels for
potential acquisition, turnaround and repositioning including 15 portfolio
or merger opportunities.
For Secured Capital Corp, a real estate
investment bank, he managed and participated in the sale of over 240 hotel
assets representing over $1.4 Billion in hotel property and mortgage loan
sales during the period 1992-96. He was instrumental in the company’s
efforts to develop the initial secondary trading market in the U.S. for
non-performing loans secured by hotels beginning in 1992-93 on behalf of
the RTC and later for several other domestic and foreign financial
institutions.
Prior to this, Mr. Branigan was a consultant
for 12 years, including 10 years working in a public accounting firm
environment for Kenneth Leventhal & Co. and Laventhol & Horwath. Focus:
non-judicial restructurings, portfolio valuation and investment analyses,
sales packaging, and market and financial due diligence assistance to
developers, lenders and owners of distressed hotels. Highlight engagement
-- $6.5 Billion VMS Realty hotel and real estate portfolio restructuring
in 1990.
